To Infinity and Beyond…

To Infinity and Beyond…

Last week some of you would have read about how overhead lunges equal success. You’ll have also read a quick line about Infinite games, and finite ones too.

A Finite game is bound by rules, time, outcomes and expectations. Simply, you’re playing to win.

Traditionally, this can look like a game of rugby, football, netball or hockey. Like a business’s end of year results or the bonus you aim for at work each year. You know what you have to do to achieve it, and so you focus accordingly.

The problem with Finite games is that just as you can win, you can also lose, and often this outcome can have detrimental effects in both the short and long term. We end up blaming ourselves, and others, for our inability to triumph. Relationships are tested and sometimes broken.

But yet we persevere with this approach because we know no different.

What if, however, there was another kind of game. A long term focused game, one that doesn’t apply a myriad of rules or time constraints. One that allows you almost continued success for a fraction of the effort an Infinite game demands.

Allow me to introduce the Infinite game!

The Infinite game isn’t limited by the structure of the Finite game. It is focused on the future, on keeping moving forward, on being agile and not constrained. At CFHV, we very much focus on the Infinite game. We focus on three things:

Move Better|Live Longer|Be Happier

We want our Legends (50yrs +) clients to be moving well 30 years from now, just as we want our kids and teens looking forward to a lifetime of being happier.

We achieve this aim through educating our clients on the benefits of an Infinite, rather than Finite focus.

It’s not the score of the workout that matters, but that you’re able to take on another one tomorrow, next week, or next year. Everything we do inside the four walls of CFHV, should benefit the life you have outside. A squat PB is an amazing feeling, but not if of means you can’t get out of bed the next day with gritting your teeth.

What is amazing is seeing clients who achieve lower blood pressure, better cholesterol, or their doctor telling them they no longer need medication to keep their type 2 in check.

Now, it’s not easy dodging the red pill and taking the Infinite route. Our egos can take a bit of a knock, we might not be posting as many videos of us pulling one legged pistols on a kettlebell while holding a barbell overhead.

But seriously, for most of us, that’s not the goal.

For our clients, our goals are the three tenets we build our vision around:

Move Better|Live Longer|Be Happier

If that’s what you want for the rest of your life, drop us a line

6 Key Reasons Why Teens Should Be Training

6 Key Reasons Why Teens Should Be Training

Teens and training!

Always a contentious issue for parents everywhere. Should I let my kids get into fitness? Doesn’t training mean lifting weights? Isn’t lifting weights bad for young bodies??

Thankfully, there is plenty of research to suggest otherwise.

This study conducted in 2015 confirms what we’ve known for some time. That resistance training in teens is a good thing, rather than something to be feared.

Here are just a few of the reasons we feel our HV Teens program is the perfect fit for today’s teenagers:

At CFHV, we promote being in shape and being ready for the unknowable. HV Teens follows a very specific structure, using a qualified coach, to ensure that each member of our Teens family develops at their pace. Our workouts vary, from of gymnastics work to Olympic lifting and everything in between. We focus on what we know works and what keeps your entire body in shape.

Personal Development

To develop friendships and relationships skills important to the future. When joining CFHV, you don’t think about this aspect, that the people here will become part of your life. Our people know and share in our vision that our community is as important as the workout we’ve all just completed. This helps to develop a more rounded individual.

Health Benefits

For long term health benefits. Starting with CFHV as a teen, you are training your brain to enjoy fitness and the associated health benefits. These values will stay with you as you age. Our members understand the need for balanced nutritional intake and a healthy relationship with food. By learning the importance of this, you are also promoting good, long term health for yourself.

It’s the sport for teens who don’t like sport. Not all kids find their calling playing rugby, netball or other traditional individual/team sports. There are competitions, in our gym, nationwide and even internationally, culminating in the CrossFit Games, where teens from around the world get to compete against each other for the title, Fittest Teen in the World!

Mental Toughness

Developing a “can do” mindset. Life is full of “I can’t moments”. Being coached, surrounding yourself with people focused on the “I can” moments, means you starts breaking down invisible barriers and overcoming obstacles. Even in your everyday life, you see yourself having more of a “I can” attitude.

OUR PRIMARY AIM – IT’S FUN We take great pride in providing a fun environment for our members to get their sweat on. We’ll test you, challenge you and encourage you to express yourself all the while making you laugh and enjoy the fact you’re working out. Our movements and workouts are constantly varied, something that you may not be able to experience at a regular gym.

Our HV Teens runs three times weekly. We proudly use The Brand X Method for our ongoing training and curriculum. To find out more, or to get involved hit this link
